Autodesk VRED with Hololight Stream

Objectives

  • Be able to use Autodesk VRED with Hololight Stream.

Prerequisites

Autodesk VRED

Autodesk VRED is real-time, physics-based 3D visualization software.

The Hololight Stream setup wizard automatically installs the Autodesk VRED plugin for all versions of Autodesk VRED installed on your computer.

Configure Autodesk VRED to work with Hololight Stream

1. Install and set up Hololight Stream

  1. Install Hololight Stream.

  2. Open Hololight Stream on your computer.

  3. Select your XR device in the dropdown menu.

  4. Under Home > Connection, note the IP address. You will use this IP address on your XR device to connect.

2. Set up Autodesk VRED

  1. Open Autodesk VRED.

  2. Open your Autodesk VRED project.

  3. Select Hololight at the top-right of the application to start the session.

3. Connect to the application

  1. Open Hololight Stream on your supported XR device.

  2. Enter the IP address that Hololight Stream shows on your computer and select Connect.

Hand tracking, passthrough, and teleport in Autodesk VRED

  1. In Autodesk VRED, select Edit > Preferences in the top-left corner.

  2. In the left sidebar, scroll down to Extended Reality > Interaction.

Activate hand tracking

  1. Select the checkbox for Use Tracked Hands in XR.

  2. Select the checkbox for Show Tracked Hand in MR. Disable this setting when using Vulkan.

Enable teleport in passthrough mode

  1. If you’re currently in an XR session, stop it.

  2. Set Availability to VR and MR.

  3. Select Apply and then select Save.

  4. Restart the XR session and connect again.

Interaction in Autodesk VRED

Interaction in Autodesk VRED depends on your XR device and whether you’re using controllers or hand tracking. Controller input has the same functionality as hand tracking.

Open the menu

Tap your palm to open and close the menu.

Teleport

  1. Tap the back of your hand to activate teleporting.

  2. Aim at the spot you want to teleport to with the other hand.

  3. Teleport by selecting with the other hand.
