Two-point alignment in Hololight Space

Objectives

  • Be able to use the two-point alignment tool in Hololight Space to align your 3D model with real-world references.

Prerequisites

  • Hololight Space or Hololight Space Cloud.

  • Hololight Space Client on a supported XR device.

Two-point alignment

The two-point alignment tool in Hololight Space allows you to precisely align your 3D model to real-world references using two connected points, known as an anchor. This ensures your virtual model matches both the position and orientation of physical objects.

How to use two-point alignment in Hololight Space

Two-point alignment requires you to have the loaded model aligned vertically. This means you need to orient it correctly with its up vector.

  1. Open Quick Menu.

  2. Select Main Menu.

  3. Select Space Manager.

  4. Select Two point alignment in the top-left corner.

After activating, a UI will appear. In this UI, you will create two anchors: one on the model and one in the real world.

Create object anchor

  1. Select Create Object Anchor to generate a red anchor made of two connected points.

  2. You can move both points, but each plays a specific role:

    • The first point sets the overall position of the anchor on your 3D model.

    • The second point, connected to the first, defines the direction (angle) and length, which together determine the orientation and scale of the anchor.

    • Position these points on the model in a way that you can replicate physically.

Create world anchor

  1. Select Create World Anchor to generate a blue anchor made of two connected points.

  2. Place them in the real world, matching the same positions, length, and direction you defined on the model.

  3. When both anchors are set, select Confirm.

Hololight Space uses the relationship between the two anchors to align your 3D model with the real world—matching position, angle, and distance.
