Download and install Hololight Stream Client

Install Hololight Stream Clients on XR devices via official device stores or through sideloading.

Methods for downloading and installing Hololight Stream Client

Download and install from the store (recommended)

If your XR device is connected to the internet, the easiest method is to install the client directly from the app store.

Download and then sideload to install

If your device doesn’t have internet access, you can install the client manually using a Windows computer. This method requires you to download the installer from our website and sideload it onto the device.

Microsoft HoloLens 2

Download and install Hololight Stream Client from the Microsoft Store on Microsoft HoloLens 2

You can download Hololight Stream Client directly from the Microsoft Store on your Microsoft HoloLens 2.

  1. On your Microsoft HoloLens 2, open the Microsoft Store.

  2. Select the search bar at the top.

  3. Type "Hololight Stream", then select it from the results.

  4. Select Get to download and install the app.

You can also download Hololight Stream Client from our website and install it, by using the Windows device portal.

  1. Using an internet browser, go to the Hololight Stream downloads page.

  2. Click download .zip for Microsoft HoloLens 2.

  3. Right-click the downloaded ZIP file and select Extract All.

Enable Developer Mode on your Microsoft HoloLens 2

Your Microsoft HoloLens 2 needs to have developer options enabled. Follow the instructions below to enable Developer Mode.

On your Microsoft HoloLens 2 select Settings > Update & Security > For Developers. Set Developer Mode to ON, Device Portal to ON. You can also see your device’s IP address on this screen.

Install Hololight Stream Client onto Microsoft HoloLens 2 using the Windows Device Portal
Before continuing, make sure your Microsoft HoloLens 2 is turned on. Your PC and your Microsoft HoloLens 2 need to be connected to the same network.

  1. Find your Microsoft HoloLens 2’s IP address. Using the device select Settings > Network & Internet > Properties. Scroll down to find your IPv4 address.

  2. On your PC, open a browser and enter the IP address of your Microsoft HoloLens 2 to access Windows Device Portal.

  3. In the sidebar, select Views > Apps.

  4. In the "Deploy apps" section, select Local Storage.

  5. Under "Select the application package", select Choose File.

  6. Browse to the folder you extracted from the ZIP file you downloaded. Select the file named Stream_<VERSION_NUMBER>_arm64_bundle_Master.appxupload.

  7. Select Install.

Meta Quest devices

You can download Hololight Stream Client directly from the Store on your Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3, or Meta Quest 3S.

  1. On your Meta Quest device, open the universal menu and select Store.

  2. When the store opens, select the magnifying glass icon.

  3. In the search bar, enter "Hololight Stream".

  4. Under "Apps & Games", locate and select Hololight Stream.

  5. On the Hololight Stream page, select Get.

Install Hololight Stream Client onto a Meta Quest device using the Meta Quest Developer Hub

You can also download Hololight Stream Client from our website and install it using the Meta Quest Developer Hub. Before continuing, make sure this tool is installed on your PC. Then follow the steps outlined on Meta’s page Get Started with Meta Quest Developer Hub.

  1. On the PC where you’ve installed the Meta Quest Developer Hub, open an internet browser and go to the Hololight Stream downloads page.

  2. Under Clients, find the link under Newest version for Hololight Stream Client Meta Quest. Select the link to start the download.

  3. Connect your Meta Quest to the PC using a USB-C cable.

  4. On your Meta Quest, allow the USB connection when prompted.

  5. Open the Meta Quest Developer Hub on your PC.

  6. Once the APK file is downloaded, select Device Manager in the Meta Quest Developer Hub.

  7. Select Add Build.

  8. Select the downloaded APK file and then select Open.

  9. Wait for the installation to finish.

    In some cases the Meta Quest requires a restart after sideloading an app. That means you should restart your device after the sideload and then you can open Hololight Stream from your App Library.

PICO 4 Ultra devices

You can download Hololight Stream Client directly from the Store on your PICO 4 Ultra (Consumer Store) or PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise (Business Store).

  1. Turn on and put on your PICO 4 Ultra or PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise.

  2. In the main menu, select Store.

  3. In the top-left corner, select the magnifying glass icon.

  4. In the search bar, type "Hololight Stream".

  5. From the search results, select Hololight Stream.

  6. Select Install.

Install Hololight Stream Client by sideloading it onto your PICO 4 Ultra device

You can also install Hololight Stream Client on your PICO 4 Ultra device by sideloading the APK file.

  1. Download the latest Hololight Stream Client APK from the Hololight downloads section.

  2. Turn on your PICO 4 Ultra device.

  3. Connect your PICO 4 Ultra device to your PC using a USB-C cable.

  4. On your PC, open File Explorer and go to This PC > PICO 4 Ultra > Internal shared storage > Download.

  5. Copy the downloaded APK file and paste it into the Download folder.

  6. Put on your PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise and open the file browser in the main menu.

  7. Go to APK files.

  8. Select the Hololight Stream.apk file.

If you already have a version of Hololight Stream installed on your PICO 4 Ultra and want to update it via sideloading, you must uninstall the old version first.

HTC VIVE devices

You can download Hololight Stream Client directly from the Store inside of your HTC VIVE XR Elite, Focus Vision or Focus 3.

  1. Turn on and put on your HTC VIVE device.

  2. In the main menu, select Store.

  3. Select the search bar.

  4. In the search bar, type "Hololight Stream".

  5. From the search results, select Hololight Stream.

  6. Select Install.

Install Hololight Stream Client by sideloading it onto your HTC VIVE device

You can also install Hololight Stream Client on your HTC Vive device by sideloading the APK file.

  1. Download the latest Hololight Stream Client APK from our Hololight Stream download page.

  2. Turn on your HTC VIVE device.

  3. Connect the HTC VIVE device with a USB-C Cable to your PC.

  4. On your HTC VIVE allow the connection and select File Transfer when prompted.

  5. On your PC, open File Explorer and go to This PC >* Device Name* > Internal shared storage > Download

  6. Copy the downloaded APK file and paste it into the Download folder.

  7. Put on your HTC Vive device and open the settings menu in the main menu.

  8. In the left sidebar select Storage.

  9. In the central panel, select File Browser.

  10. Select Downloads.

  11. Select Hololight Stream.apk to install.

If a previous version of Hololight Stream is installed, you must uninstall it before installing the new version. In some cases, the HTC Vive device may require a restart after sideloading. Restart your device before opening Hololight Stream from your App Library.

Magic Leap 2

Since Magic Leap 2 doesn’t support a dedicated app store, you’ll need to install Hololight Stream Client using Magic Leap Hub.

Install Hololight Stream Client by sideloading it onto your Magic Leap 2

  1. Download the latest Hololight Stream Client for Magic Leap from our Hololight Stream download page.

  2. Download and install the Magic Leap Hub onto your PC.

  3. Open Magic Leap Hub and go to Device Bridge.

  4. Power on and put on your Magic Leap 2 headset.

  5. Connect the Processing Unit to your PC using a USB-C cable.

  6. On the device, allow the USB connection when prompted.

  7. Once connected, your Magic Leap 2 will appear in the Device Bridge window.

  8. In Device Bridge, go to App > Install App.

  9. Select the Hololight Stream Client file you downloaded earlier.

After installation, you can launch Hololight Stream Client directly on your Magic Leap 2.

Apple iOS and Apple visionOS devices

The only way to download and install Hololight Stream Client on iOS and visionOS devices is through the Apple Store. There is no way to sideload apps to iPhone, iPad or Apple Vision Pro.

Desktop

You can download Hololight Stream Desktop Client directly from our website and install it on your Windows computer.

Download and set up Hololight Stream Client for desktop

  1. Download the Desktop Client installer from the Hololight Stream download page. Double-click the .exe file

  2. Accept the license terms and then select Next.

  3. Choose whether to create desktop shortcuts (recommended),

  4. Select Install. If windows prompt appears, select Yes to continue.

  5. Once installation is complete, double-click the desktop icon to open the client.

  6. Enter the IP address of the PC running your Hololight Stream instance, then select Connect.

  7. Select Settings and then select the controller type you want to visualize.

  • Safari There may be circumstances where these browsers don’t work with Hololight Stream Client. Through testing, we confirmed that Hololight Stream Client will work in the following situations:

Set up Hololight Stream Client for web browsers

  1. Download the Hololight Stream Web Client from the Hololight Stream downloads page.

  2. Right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All.

  3. Open the Microsoft Store and install SimpleWebServer.

  4. Open SimpleWebServer and select Create New Server.

  5. For the folder path, go to the extracted folder and select the subfolder Stream-Client-Web-2025.0.0.

  6. Check the box next to Accessible on local network.

  7. Select Create Server.

  8. Get your local IP address by pressing the Windows key, typing "Command Prompt", opening Command Prompt, entering "ipconfig" and then pressing Enter. Find IPv4 address, and that is your IP address.

  9. In a supported web browser, enter the IPv4 address followed by the port. The default port is "8080". An example would be "192.168.50.180:8080".

Lenovo ThinkReality VRX

Lenovo ThinkReality VRX does not have a dedicated store. You must sideload Hololight Stream Client onto your Lenovo ThinkReality VRX.

  1. Download Lenovo VRX Hololight Stream Client from the Hololight Stream downloads page.

  2. On your Windows PC open the Microsoft Store.

  3. Search for "App Installer for Mobile".

  4. Download and Install the installer and follow the instructions.

  5. Select the Hololight Stream Client .apk file you downloaded.

  6. Select Settings and deactivate For WSA only.

  7. Go back.

  8. Turn on your Lenovo ThinkReality VRX and connect it with a USB-C Cable to your PC.

  9. Allow the USB Connection inside your Lenovo ThinkReality VRX.

  10. Select Install in the installer.
